WHITE RIVER JUNCTION โ For the first time since 2019, the Twin State Baseball Classic, which pits recently graduated high school standouts from Vermont and New Hampshire against one another, is headed back to Maxfield Sports Complex on Saturday.
Xander Oshoniyi, a key cog in the Thetford Academy machine that went undefeated en route to its second straight VPA Division III state championship, is the only Upper Valley and D-III player representing Vermont. Oshoniyi threw six innings of shutout ball to get the Panthers past Enosburg Falls in the D-III semifinals and blanked Bellows Falls in the seventh inning to lock down the championship on June 13.
As for the Granite State, Hanover High’s Hayden Avard, Wyatt Daigle and Alex Boone made the roster. The Bears made a run to the NHIAA Division II semifinals before falling to Kingswood.
Logan Minkler of Stevens High also represents the Upper Valley on the New Hampshire squad. The Cardinals fell to Fall Mountain in the first round of the NHIAA Division III playoffs.
The Twin State Baseball Classic will feature a doubleheader of seven-inning games, the first of which is set for 4 p.m. Last year, Vermont swept New Hampshire.
Admission to Saturdayโs games is free.
