Judy Parish Oberting, who holds the highest winning percentage for a coach in Dartmouth College women’s hockey history, is set to be inducted into the New Hampshire Legends of Hockey Hall of Fame this fall.

Oberting, who also played for Dartmouth and graduated in 1991, began leading the Big Green on the bench in the 1998-1999 season and resigned after the 2002-2003 season. She was 114-40-8 during her tenure.

Additionally, as bench boss, Oberting led the Big Green to two Frozen Four appearances (2000-2001 and 2002-2003), two ECAC regular season titles (2000-2001 and 2001-2002), two ECAC tournament championships (2000-2001 and 2002-2003), and two Ivy League titles (2000-2001 and 2001-2002).

Oberting also won the national women’s coach of the year award after the 1999-2000 season and was a finalist for the same honor after the 2002-2003 season.

In 2023, she was awarded the American Hockey Coaches Association Women’s Ice Hockey Founders Award.

The Founders Award “recognizes a member of the hockey community or college coaching profession who has contributed to the overall growth and development of the sport of women’s ice hockey in the United States through their enthusiasm, passion and selflessness,” per the New Hampshire Legends of Hockey news release announcing its 2026 inductees.

The induction is set for Nov. 1.

McFadden made baseball’s permanent skipper

Blake McFadden, who served as the baseball program’s interim head coach last season after veteran coach Bob Whalen’s retirement, had that interim tag removed last week and will continue to serve as head coach moving forward.

“This program means a great deal to me, and I am proud of what our players accomplished this spring. There is real momentum here, and I am excited to build on it,” McFadden said in a news release from the college.

“I also want to thank coach Bob Whalen for his unwavering support and guidance throughout my career — his influence has been invaluable. Our goal is to compete for Ivy League championships, and I believe we have the foundation to do that.”

McFadden, who has been with the Big Green since 2018, led his squad to a 15-25 record overall and went 7-14 in Ivy League play this past season.

“During this past year leading the program, Blake’s positive impact on our student-athletes was evident from day one,” Dartmouth Director of Athletics and Recreation Mike Harrity said in the news release.

“The way he approaches teaching, development, and his emphasis on growth is what we were looking for in a permanent head coach. Blake has earned our confidence, and we are excited for the next chapter of Dartmouth baseball,” he added.

Football program adds new staffers

The Big Green will head into the 2026 season with more new faces on its staff, as five additions were announced over the weekend.

Adam McGuire will serve as Dartmouth’s cornerbacks coach. He previously coached defensive backs at Marist and Central Oklahoma.

The Big Green’s new running backs coach will be Ben Wilkerson, who most recently had the same title with Fordham. He also had stints with the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff and the University of Buffalo.

Noah Reilly, who is coming off three seasons of coaching inside linebackers at the University of San Diego, will be in charge of the Big Green’s defensive quality control. Reilly also had a stint at Millsaps College.

As for the offensive quality control, Luke Seale joins the staff. He was most recently a graduate assistant working with the offensive line at the University of Buffalo.

Cat Palmer, who was most recently the Director of Operations at Wesleyan, will serve as Dartmouth’s new Football Recruiting and Operations Coordinator.
