Dana Ramspott

Sunapee, NH – Dana Gordon Ramspott, a lifelong resident of Sunapee, passed away at his beloved “R” Farm on June 2, 2026. He was born on Easter Sunday, March 29, 1964, the only child of Janet (Graves) and Gordon Ramspott. Dana graduated from Sunapee Middle High School class of 1982 and attended the University of New Hampshire where he was a member of the Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity.

Dana’s love for Sunapee was evident in the way he lived every day. His greatest contribution was his 41 years of service to the Sunapee Fire Department. He cherished his fire department family and mentored many of its members. Over the years, he served in every position in the department, ultimately becoming Assistant Chief.

Dana served many other capacities in town including the committee to preserve the Livery Building and for many years tended the clock tower atop the Livery Building. He also served on the building committee for the Safety Services Building, Sunapee’s 250th birthday committee and a lifetime member of the Sunapee Historical Society.

Dana was a member of King Solomon Lodge #14 in Elkins NH. Dana also belonged to the Kearsarge Beekeepers Association and as the label on his honey jars say, “The Best Darn Honey Anywhere”. Since he was a child Dana loved John Deere Tractors and took pride in ownership of his John Deere “A” and passed along his enthusiasm to his granddaughters who he taught at a very young age to drive their own John Deere “B”. He was a former member of the Northeast Two Cylinder Tractor Club.

Dana is survived by his wife, Betty Hooper Ramspott, whom he married on May 5, 1990, sharing 36 wonderful years together. He is also survived by his daughter, Megan Oxland, and her husband, Corey; and the pride and joy of his life, his granddaughters Riley Ann Oxland and Jaime Ramspott Oxland, who truly believed their grampa was a hero. Dana is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and several loving cousins.

Dana’s jovial personality was contagious to everyone around him. He always helped anyone in need and never failed to ask, “How are you doing today my friend?”
