Deep gratitude to the Upper Valley
My wife and I feel fortunate to have two outstanding hospitals only a 15-minute drive from our home in Wilder. Eight days ago, when I felt sick with a cough and throat pain, I asked our physician at the Alice Peck Day (APD) Memorial Hospital for advice. Because of my medical history, she advised me to go to the emergency room in the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center.
At the emergency room of DHMC, the staff determined the cause of my problem, being aware of my history with a stroke, heart attack and lung issues. After many tests, the cause of my disease turned out to be a virus and the beginning of pneumonia. Then, since there were no beds available at DHMC, their staff worked to find a room back at APD for further treatment.
During my weeklong stay at APD, I was amazed by the wonderful team of nurses who nurtured me and the cooks who prepared delicious meals for a plant-based vegan!
Both hospitals have provided excellent care for me and my wife since we moved from New Jersey to Hartland in 1999. My profound thanks go out to the wonderful staff at these hospitals and our friends and neighbors โ known and unknown โ who offered us support during our wonderful life in the Upper Valley.
