Hanover boys and girls win CVC championships
The Hanover boys and girls track and field teams won the Connecticut Valley Conference Championships at Keene High School on Saturday.
With 12 teams competing, the girls scored 165 points, with Keene second at 140. For the boys, the Bears tallied 104 points, followed by Keene at 95.
The Hanover girls won the meet on the strength of its distance runners and relays, with solid help in the shorter distances.
Top finishes for the Bears included Mary Westrich (first 400 meters), Josie White (first 200 meters, second 100 meters), Aria Deeb (first 800 and 1,600), Megan Faris (first 3,200), Alice Bell, Westrich, White and Lou Swenson (first 4-by -400) and Deeb, Faris, Millie Larrick and Westrich (first 4-by-800) and Zoe Meyers (first shot put). Also for Hanover, Bell was second in the 1,600, Eliza Lahaye was second in the long jump, and Grace Stewart was second in the 3,200.
For the Hanover boys, Ben Groves won the 800, Safir Mehra was first in the 1,600, with Groves second, and Dylan Faris was second in the 3,200. Also for Hanover, Rhys Jones was second in the 200 meters, and the 4-by-400 relay team of Groves, Rhys Jones, Tanner Lahaye, and Oliver Collins finished first.ย
Thetford Academyโs Sebastian Perdrizet took first in the 100 and 400 and second in the javelin with teammate Emmett Terry first in the 200, and the Panthers 4-by-800 relay team of Zac Amber, Matthew McGovern, Daniel Mann, and Oliver Emery was also first.
Other results for the boys included: Lebanon โ Alexzander Averine, Kyrellos Antonious, Cole Perry, and Teeghan Joyner (first 4-by-100 relay), Ben Nelson (second shot put and discus), Joyner (second 400 meters), Oscar Gulledge (second, 110 meter hurdles), and Mason Darak (second pole vault). Sharon Academy โ Noah Malloy (first high jump and pole vault). Hartford โ Jayden Forbes (first triple jump, second long jump). Newport โAyden Hodge (first javelin). Stevens โ Justin McGuire (second triple jump).
