A dog jumped from a moving vehicle on Interstate 91 northbound in Hartford on Sunday evening and has not been located, Vermont State Police said.

The owner told police the dog, named Dallas, escaped around 6 p.m. after pressing the power window button and rolling down the glass as the vehicle approached the interchange with Interstate 89, the release said. Dallas was last seen running south in the northbound lanes near mile marker 68.

Dallas is a senior Jack Russell Terrier mix with a brownish-gray coat and white chest, according to the news release. He is microchipped and will respond to his name.

Troopers from the Royalton barracks searched the area but were unable to locate him.
