Ledyard Park
Hanover’s Ledyard Park is a wonderful idea, but the design appears unfocused. The use of artificial turf, which is plastic, at a time many of us work to reduce plastic in our environment makes little sense.
Plastic smells bad especially in the sun and in particular after pets have used it as a restroom, which will inevitably happen. Instead of elements from parks past, we might look to the future.
How much habitat can we create? A park centered on this goal will look the best and cost the least, which is a rare combination of superlatives. Birds might nest in a row of paper birch and butterflies flock to milkweed. That is a place I want to be.
