Concerns about road safety

Reading Marion Umpleby’s article on effects on public safety caused by doing away with state inspections, I’m reminded of a recent conversation I had with my mechanic, who pointed out that used car dealers will no longer need to make sure the cars they sell can pass a safety inspection.

How many more unsafe vehicles will be put on the roads as a result?

I wonder if the NH Auto Dealers Assoc. had a hand in lobbying for this change.  I remember a time when politicians represented the public and not just special interest groups and major donors.
