White River Valley hosted a field events meet for area high schools, including Sharon Academy, in South Royalton on Friday. The gathering featured athletes with varying levels of experience, including one WRV competitor who had just joined and also plays on the school’s softball team.
Imari Taylor won the shot put, the discus and was second in the javelin, leading the White River Valley girls to first place in a four-team meet of field events on Friday. Also helping the Wildcats to the win were Cassandra Armstrong (1st long jump, 1st pole vault, 2nd high jump) and Olivia Tuller (2nd, shot put and discus). For the White River boys, who finished second at the home meet, Allen Wedge won the long jump, Grayson Russ took second in the high jump and third in the triple jump and Issac Kinsley was third in the shot put and discus.
Sharon Academy’s Will DeCapua was third in the javelin, teammate Noah Malloy won the high jump, was second in the pole vault and also for the Phoenix, Orion Bee finished second in the triple jump. Pateyn Gray was third for Sharon in the shot put.
