Mascoma’s Sam Joyce won the 100 and 200-meter races, and teammate Barnaby Diehn won the discus and shot put, leading the Royals to first place among 11 teams at the Monadnock Early Bird track meet on Tuesday at Monadnock Regional High School in East Swanzey, N.H. Colin Myers of Mascoma was second in both the discus and shot put, the Royals’ Sila Jukosky was second in the 110-meter hurdles, and the 4 by 100 Mascoma relay team of Alex Deserranno, Karson Rogers, John Runnion-Bareford, and Carl Russell finished third.ย 
For the Stevens boys, Kiernan Heath finished second in the 200 meters, Justin McGuire second in the long jump, and Owen Chapman third in the 100 meters. For the Stevens girls, Faith Norton was first in the 200 and second in the 100, with teammate Maddy Chambers winning the 100. Mascoma senior Georgia Kondi continued her dominance in the shot put, setting another school record with a winning throw of 41 feet 3 inches. Mascoma freshman Sophia Smith won the high jump and also set a school record (4 feet 10 inches) and was third in the long jump. Also for Mascoma, Baylee Hill was third in the high jump, Montana Ballard took third in the triple jump and Audrey Weber was second in the shot put. Overall, Mascoma girls took four of the first six finishes in the high jump, and the boys had first, second, and sixth place in the discus.
“An amazing start to the season with Georgia Kondi and Sophia Smith (high jump) breaking school records,” Mascoma coach Rick Currier said in an email. “As a freshman, it was Sophia’s first track meet ever.”
