Enfield, NH – Herbert “Danny” Cornell Jr., passed away Saturday, March 14th, at home in Enfield. Danny was born to Joan (Zielinski) and Herbert Cornell Sr. in Alexandria, VA. Shortly after his birth, they moved to Manchester, NH, where he spent much of his youth until relocating to Lebanon, NH, prior to his senior year of high school. During this period, he attended the Woodstock Music Festival and spent a few years studying to be a teacher through Keene State College. Danny left college to pursue an electrical apprenticeship, a field he worked in for 45 years until his retirement in 2019. Danny married Marcia Littlefield in 1987 and had one child and one stepson. Though they later divorced, they remained friends.
Danny was committed to building community through volunteerism and coaching youth sports. He loved playing hockey with his Lakers team well into his older age and always described himself as “a hockey player.” He spent summers at his family’s camp on the banks of the Pemi River where he enjoyed fishing and playing cards late into the night. Danny always cherished spending time with family and friends.
Danny is predeceased by stepson Matthew Neily and siblings Judith Verrill and Ronald Desrochers. He is survived by son Herbert “Dan” Cornell III, daughter-in-law Mikhaila, grandson Terran, siblings Lisa Vose (Bill), Steven Cornell (Debbie), Brenda West, nieces, nephews, companion Nicole Lovejoy, and a myriad of friends he loved like family.
