PIERMONT — At the town floor meeting held last Saturday, voters rejected a proposal to create a four-way stop at the intersection of routes 10, 25 and 25C.

They approved $10,000 for the purchase of lighted stop signs at the current two-way stop on Routes 25 and 25C.

They also approved $7,000 for two solar-powered speed radar signs to be placed at locations at the Selectboard’s discretion.

Voters approved a town operating budget of $1.38 million, which was amended upward from the initial proposal in order to include $15,000 for two sets of bunker gear for the fire department and $1,137 for stipends for an additional firefighter.

Voters approved a sewer budget of $43,700, with the bulk of the cost coming from user fees and the rest coming from the state.

They also approved raising and appropriating $134,000 for a new highway department truck in a ballot vote, 49-3.

Voters at Tuesday’s annual school meeting approved all warned articles, including a $3 million operating budget.

They also approved an article making the Piermont Village School District an open enrollment district, allowing it to admit one student per each grade in kindergarten through eighth grade from outside of the town, with 0% of the residential student population eligible to seek enrollment outside of the district.

Voters elected town and school officials at the polls on March 10.
