Articles of note: A petitioned warrant article seeks to limit annual school budget increases based on a formula using per pupil spending times the average daily enrollment plus the region’s inflation rate. Under an open enrollment article, the district would prohibit students from leaving to another district but would accept students up to 10% of each of the district’s school enrollment. Two articles recommend the administration sell the vacant Bluff Elementary School and the former Masonic Temple.

Contested races: Brian Rapp, Don Lavalette, Frank Sprague and Andrew O’Hearne are candidates for two, three-year terms on the School Board.

Budgets and spending articles: The proposed budget of $42.9 million represents a decrease of $200,000 from the budget approved last year and would reduce the school tax rate an estimated 18 cents per $1,000 of assessed valuation.

When, where and how to vote: Ballot voting will take place on Tuesday, March 10 from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Ward I and II vote at the Claremont Middle School. Ward III votes at Disnard Elementary School.
