Articles of note: A small turnout of voters in the Kearsarge district’s towns (Bradford, Newbury, New London, Springfield, Sutton, Warner and Wilmot) took care of the most novel piece of business at the Jan. 10 deliberative session by codifying open enrollment. Kearsarge Regional High School would accept up to 30 students from other districts, but the district will not enable students to leave for another open enrollment school.
Contested races: There are no contested races for four school board seats, in Bradford, New London, Sutton and Warner.
Budgets and spending articles: District residents will consider a $56.6 million budget. Tax rate impacts will vary from town to town, with Springfield and Newbury expected to see small rate decreases and New London, Wilmot and Bradford to see increases. Voters also will be asked to approve a new contract with the district’s para-educators union, which carries a cost increase of nearly $167,000 in the first year.
When, where and how to vote: Ballot voting takes place on March 10. Polls will be open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. in New London’s Whipple Hall and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. in Springfield Town Meeting House.
