Trails decision a long time coming
The wheels of justice often spin more slowly than they should. On a Thursday in August 2019, I received an angry phone call from someone who told me that I needed to remove a temporary arrow sign from a trail on his property. The sign was placed on this Tunbridge legal trail in advance of a small bicycle event scheduled for the following Saturday.
I explained that this legal trail was a long established public right of way that was open to all public non-motorized uses. Needless to say, the soon to be plaintiff who sued Tunbridge did not agree.
I want to thank the numerous people of our town along with support from neighboring towns, statewide groups and legislators who helped bring this needless legal imbroglio to a halt with last weekโs Vermont Supreme Court decision affirming the view that was clearly evident way back in 2019.
