The New Hampshire Public School Infrastructure Commission awarded $8 million to fund school safety projects at at 149 schools across the state, according to a news release from the New Hampshire Department of Education. The funding comes from the Security Action for Education (SAFE) grants program and this round of funding focused on projects that โ€œenhance surveillance, emergency alerting and access controlโ€ at schools.

Those projects include installing exterior cameras, camera monitors, locks, bollards, gates, fencing, blue light emergency alerting systems, public address phone systems and exterior door alarms, according to a description of the grant application process.

The following Upper Valley schools received grants: Claremont Middle School, $17,400; Disnard Elementary School, Claremont, $17,400; Maple Avenue School, Claremont, $16,400; Stevens High School, Claremont, $11,200; Sugar River Valley Regional Technical School, Claremont, $43,400; Newport Middle School & Newport Middle High School, $20,000; Richards Elementary School, Newport, $20,000; Canaan Elementary School, $70,738; Indian River School, West Canaan, $71,400; and Cornerstone Chartered Public School, Lebanon, $130,217.
