The truth about Trump’s pesky tax return
Since it’s impossible to track all of the insanity surrounding the Trump administration, here’s a little nugget that you may have missed:
President Trump is suing the IRS for releasing his 2020 tax return. This was, of course, a tax return he had repeatedly promised to release voluntarily.
He wants $10 billion. And the beauty of it is that the Department of Justice — whose lawyers serve at his discretion — is tasked with defending the lawsuit. In other words, he has to power to fire the lawyers who are opposing him in the litigation, and to hire their replacements.
It’s little wonder that he didn’t want this tax return made public: it shows that he paid a total of $0 in federal income taxes that year.
And you can be fairly certain that, if and when the Justice Department coughs it up, none of the money that he obtains will be going to any charitable causes. You see, his 2020 tax return also showed that he gave a total of $0 to charity.
