On self-reverence
Two of the things I’ve learned in my decades of observing humanity are that genuinely good people and people who are genuinely convinced of their goodness are never the same people, and that, as genuine virtue by definition does not call attention to itself, virtue signaling is always something else. And self-serving is one of the things it always is.
