Mascomaโs Diehn wins shot put event at UNH meet
Mascomaโs Barnaby Diehn won the shot put at Saturdayโs New Hampshire Winter Track League meet at the University of New Hampshire with a 50 foot 9 inch throw.
Lebanonโs Oscar Gulledge was third in the event and Newportโs Brady Minckler was fourth.
For the girls, Georgie Kondi of Mascoma was second in the shot put followed by Callie Dixon of Newport. Mascomaโs Sam Joyce was third in the 55 meters. In the 300 meters, Joyce was third and Lebanonโs Teeghan Joyner was fifth. Newportโs Bryce Palmer finished fifth in the 1,000 meters and the 4 by 800 Newport relay team of John Wilkinson, Tristan Hannon, Alex Couitt and Johny Hooper took fifth. Lebanonโs Banipreet Kaur was fourth in the 300 meters. Mascoma girls finished in eighth place, Newport in ninth and Lebanon in 12th among 15 teams. Mascoma boys were fifth and Lebanon and Newport tied for 13th among 16 teams.
SWIMMING
Hanover swimmers qualify for state meet
The Hanover boys and girls swim team qualified several more swimmers for the NHIAA Division II state swim meet at a three-team meet with Lebanon and Stevens at the Upper Valley Aquatic Center last week.
Hanover coach Fritz Bedford said Landes Hough, Miles Vogt, Alex Chen, Vidhaan Jain, Haoyi Li, Alan Zhang and Gael Popescu had qualifying times in several events and for the girls, Charlotte Hourdequin, Addy Cesanek, Grace Staats, Joy Cheng and Kai Britton also qualified.
Hanover won all the events at Wednesdayโs meet, except the girlsโ 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke, both won by Lebanonโs Hailey Belardo. Hourdequin won the girlsโ 200 free and Hough won the same race for the boys. Other wins for Hanover included Vogt (100 free), Ruby Lintner (100 free), Mim Al-Nimr (girls 200 IM), Vogt (boys, 200 IM), Zhang (100-yard backstroke), Cheng (100-yard breaststroke) Hanyi Liu (boys, 100-yard breaststroke), Jain (boys, 50 free) Stevens Rae Brothers was fourth in the 100-yard free and fifth in the 50 free.
