Mascoma’s Kondi qualifies for New Balance Nationals
Mascoma Valley Regional High School senior Georgia Kondi won the shot put at the New Hampshire Winter Track League meet on Saturday at Philips Exeter Academy and in the process qualified for the New Balance Indoor Nationals, Mascoma head coach Rick Currier said.
Kondi’s mark of 39 feet 2 inches was also a new school record.
The Royals’ Sam Joyce also set a school record in the 300 meters, finishing sixth in 37.63 seconds. Thirteen Mascoma athletes had personal bests on the day, Currier said.
The Royals Barnaby Diehn was second in the shot put with his teammate, Colin Myers, fourth, and Carl Russell finished fifth in the 3,000 meters for Mascoma.
“Best meet of the season by far for us. Kids are really coming together,” Currier said.
Hanover’s Aria Deeb was second in both the 1,500 and 3000 meters and her teammate, Alice Bell, was fourth in the 1,000 meters. Oliver Collins was third in the 1,000 meters for Hanover.
In the 4 by 400 relay, Collins, Grayson Lyall, Ethan Welder and Jason Ediale were fifth.ย
Hanover girls were fifth among 12 teams and the Mascoma boys were fifth in a field of 10 teams. Mascoma girls were sixth and Hanover boys seventh.
Newport Dixon wins shot put
At a New Hampshire Winter Track League meet at the University of New Hampshire on Sunday, Newport’s Callie Dixon won the shot put against 18 competitors with a throw of 35 feet 6 inches.
Also for Newport, Bryce Palmer was second in the 1,500, and Brady Minckler was third in the shot put and Isaiah Nash Mercado fourth.
