CHARLESTOWN โ A 23-year-old Charlestown woman pleaded not guilty to two felony charges related to child sexual abuse in Rutland Superior Court last Wednesday.
Alysha Devoe, a former Rutland resident, faces one felony count of use of a child in a sexual performance and one felony count of possession of child sexual abuse material, a news release from the Vermont Attorney Generalโs Office said.ย
The charges against Devoe come nearly a year after her boyfriend, 23-year-old Stephen Kingsbury, was arrested โrelated to his possession, manufacturing and promotion” of child sexual abuse material and involved in the sexual abuse of children, Devoeโs affidavit recounts. He pleaded not guilty last March to one count of felony aggravated sexual assault on a child, one felony count of use of a child in a sexual performance and six counts of felony possession of child sexual abuse material. A judge ordered him to be held without bail. He is currently held at the Marble Valley Regional Correctional Facility, per the inmate locator VINElink.
Devoe, who as of earlier this month was working at a Claremont nursing home, was not a suspect during the initial investigation, which stemmed from cyber tips from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children CyberTipline in September 2024 and resulted in Kingsburyโs arrest, according to the affidavit in her case.ย However, investigators continued to interview her and later found evidence linking Devoe’s phone to the illicit images.
At her arraignment last week, Judge Cortland Corsones ordered a $5,000 unsecured appearance bond.ย Devoe’s conditions of release include mandatory court attendance, informing her attorney or the court of a change of address and phone number, and restrictions of her access to the victims or any children under the age of 12.ย
Reached by phone last Thursday, Devoeโs attorney, Mark Furlan of Furlan and Associates, declined to comment.ย Devoeโs next court appearance, a status conference, is scheduled for March 16.
