Secondary accomplishments
Fifth-graders Westyn Danforth, of Bradford Elementary School in Bradford, Vt., and Gaelen McNaughton, of Weathersfield School in Ascutney, have been named to Vermont Kid Governor Roslyn Fortin’s six-member cabinet. The fifth-graders were inaugurated by Vermont Secretary of State Sarah Copeland Hanzas during a a Jan. 12 ceremony at the Vermont Statehouse.
Thetford Academy senior Daniel Mann, of Thetford Center, will represent Vermont in the United States Youth Senate Program, which is scheduled to take place March 7 through 14 in Washington, DC. Mann also earned a $10,000 scholarship to put toward his undergraduate studies.
Thetford Academy senior Elijah Renner was named a Regeneron Science Talent Search scholar, a national math and science competition for high school seniors. Renner’s project was titled “Large Language Models for Automated Pathology Billing Code Assignment
The Reprisal Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) in Newport has selected the following Upper Valley high school seniors as its DAR Good Citizen Award recipients for the 2025โ2026 school year: Mariana Utell, Lebanon High School; Jacobi Marotti, Hanover High School; and Connor Messenger, Sunapee Middle High School.

The following Upper Valley residents made the dean’s list at Saint Anselm College in Manchester for the fall 2025 semester: Jesse McDonnell, Grantham, finance; Joanna Mellon, Grantham, graphic design; Olivia Parsons, Grantham, nursing; Gwyneth Schachtner, Grantham, biochemistry and molecular biology; and Rachel Sites, Plainfield, nursing.
Larkyn Moodie-Hamilton, of White River Junction, made the dean’s list at SUNY Oneonta in Oneonta, N.Y., for the fall 2025 semester.
The following Upper Valley residents made the dean’s list at State University of New York at Potsdam in Potsdam, NY, for the fall 2025 semester: Eriq Bowie-Reimers, Lyme, politics; Andrew Gubbins, South Pomfret, business administration; and Emma Mullaly, Enfield, chemistry.
Emma Willens, of Hartland, who is studying psychology at Hofstra University in Hempstead, N.Y., made the provost’s list for the fall 2025 semester.
Joel Acero, of Claremont, who is studying finance at Hofstra University in Hempstead, N.Y., made the dean’s list for the fall 2025 semester.
