SPRINGFIELD, N.H. โ An early morning fire Tuesday destroyed a Town Farm Road home and left three pets dead.
“The home was fully engulfed when the homeowner returned home,” Springfield Fire Chief Ian MacMillan said Tuesday.

The homeowner reported the fire at 620 Town Farm Road at about 1:29 a.m.
By the time firefighters arrived on scene the single-family, two-story home was “completely engulfed,” MacMillan said.
The cause of the fire is “undetermined so far” because by the time firefighters arrived the roof and floor had collapsed.
The homeowner is staying with family. MacMillan said he believes three pets perished in the blaze.
“Our hearts go out to the homeowner, losing their house and their pets,” MacMillan said.
The home was completed in 2022, according to town property records. A garage, which was completed this year, was unharmed by the fire, MacMillan said.
The entire property, which includes 2.23 acres, is assessed at $353,700. It belongs to Jody Barry. Efforts to reach Barry on Tuesday were unsuccessful.
Firefighters from Springfield were assisted on the scene by those from New London, Grantham, Sunapee and Enfield.
“You need help from other towns when things like this happen,” MacMillan said.
Because of the cold conditions, firefighters had to contend with ice and the town highway crew brought in sand for the road, MacMillan said.
The fire was completely out by about 5 a.m. when firefighters cleared the scene, he said.
