SWIMMING
The Hanover girls swim team, defending NHIAA Division II champions, defeated six other schools in a seven-team meet at Colby-Sawyer College on Friday.
The Hanover boys placed second behind Keene High School. Individual first-place finishes for the Hanover girls included Addy Cesanek (200-yard free), Joy Cheng (200-yard IM), and Kai Britton (100-yard free). Cheng, Britton, Charlotte Hourdequin, and Mimi Al-Nimr won the 200-yard free relay. Cheng was also second in the 100-yard back, and Hourdequin was second in the 100-yard breaststroke. Results for the boys included Tony Morris-Wang (second 100-yard back), Alan Zhang (second 100 and 200-yard free), and Haoyi Liu (second, 100-yard breast).
Besides Hanover and Keene, schools represented were Kearsarge Regional, Plymouth Regional, Fall Mountain, Monadnock, and Con-Val
Cesanek, Al-Nimr, Cheng, Britton, and Tintin Wang qualified for the state championship meet with their times. Hanover is off until a Jan. 9th meet, also at Colby-Sawyer.
INDOOR TRACK
Thetford Academyโs Sebastian Perdizet won the 300 meters and long jump, and White River Valleyโs George Roda won the 1,000-meter race at the Chip Langmaid Invitational Indoor Track meet at Norwich University on Saturday.
Roda was also second in the two-mile race, and Perdizet placed third in the 55-meter dash. In team scores, with 15 schools, Hartford finished third, White River Valley fourth, and Thetford Academy fifth.
For the girls, Thetfordโs Madeline Piecuch and Meredith Sloop finished second and third in the two-mile race, Oxbowโs Casey Wiedrick placed third in the 600 meters, and Hartfordโs Kathryn Summarsell took fourth in the 300 meters.
Hartford Jayden Forbes was second in the long jump and fourth in the 300 meters, and teammate Elliot Brooks was third in the 1,000 meters. Jack Hughes of White River Valley was third in the long jump.
Hartfordโs 4 by 400 relay team of Forbes, Lucas Sanderson, Jaidin Bennett, and Colby Albrecht was third, and the White River Valley boys 4 by 200 relay teams finished second.

Hanoverโs Aria Deeb finished second in the 1,500-meter race at the New Hampshire Winter Track League meet on Sunday at the University of New Hampshire. Alice Bell and Grace Stewart finished fourth and fifth, respectively for Hanover and Deeb, Bell, Stewart and Lou Swenson were third in the 4 by 400 relay. The Bears were fourth among 11 teams at the meet.
In the afternoon, meet at UNH, Mascomaโs Barnaby Diehn won the shot put, Carl Russell was second in the 3,000 meters, with teammate Sam Joyce third in the 300 meters, and Sila Jukosky of Mascoma fourth in the high jump. The Royals, Georgia Kondi, took second in the shot put, and her teammate, Baylee Hill, was second in the high jump. Stevens Own Chapman was fifth in the 55 meters.
For the Lebanon girls, Banipreet Kaur took third in the 300 meters, Sarah Smith was fifth in the 1,000 meters, and Kristen Higgins finished fourth in the 55-meter hurdles. Kaur, Higgins, Carter Breedlove and Maggie Del Frari of Lebanon were second in the 4 by 160 relay. Lebanonโs Oscar Gulledge was third and Lincoln Butterfield of Mascoma fifth in the shot put.
Mascoma girls finished sixth out of 12 teams, and the boys were fifth among 13 schools. The Lebanon girls finished eighth.
In Vermont, Imari Taylor of White River Valley won the shot put, and Finn Proulx of Sharon Academy was third in the 1,000 meters at an indoor meet at the University of Vermont.
At a throwing meet at St. Johnsbury Academy, Connor Sloop was third in the shot put and fifth in the weight throw for Thetford Academy, and Rowan Dumont was fourth for the Hartford girls in the shot put.
