Joyce S. Soule

Wilder, VT – Joyce S. Soule, 93, died Friday, December 12, 2025, at the Jack Byrne Center for Palliative Care in Lebanon, NH.

She was born February 1, 1932, the daughter of Floyd H. and Pauline (Shenk) Cole on the side of the road in Randolph, VT after her father got into a car accident on the way to the hospital. Joyce grew up in Quechee and graduated from Hartford High School with the class of 1949 before attending the University of New Hampshire and then Keene State Teachers College. She was married to William “Tony” Soule July 8, 1955, in East Dorset, Vermont and they made a home and raised their family in Quechee. After Mr. Soule died in 1973, Joyce moved to Wilder in 1979, where she has lived since.

Joyce worked as a bookkeeper for several local businesses including many years at Twin State Typewriter. After retiring, she enjoyed time at the Bugbee Senior Center, working on jigsaw puzzles and knitting, including making Christmas stockings for all her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was also an avid reader.

She was predeceased by her husband, William, a brother Bruce H. Cole and her long-time companion, Robert Lowery.

She is survived by her children, Jon Soule of Bridgewater Corners, VT, David Soule of Wilder and Kim Hall and her husband Randy of Keller, TX, four grandchildren, Ashley Arbuckle and husband, Eric; Kristofer Hall and wife, Chloe; Nikolas Hall and wife, Amberley; and Megi Hall and fiancé, Jared Talton as well as ten great-grandchildren.

A private committal service in the Hilltop Cemetery in Quechee will be held at the convenience of the family.
