After dropping the first three games of the season, the Dartmouth Big Green men’s basketball team picked up their first win last Tuesday, defeating visiting UMaine Augusta 113–68.
Kareem Thomas led the way for Dartmouth offensively with a game-high 24 points.

The Big Green also had contributions from Connor Amundsen, Ben Brown, Jayden Williams, and Cameron McNamee, who each scored in double digits.
With the win, Dartmouth is now 1-3 overall and will look to keep the momentum going when it travels to Jersey City, N.J., to take on Saint Peter’s on Saturday.
Oshoniyi out as men’s soccer coach
The contract of Bo Oshoniyi, who had coached the men’s soccer team for eight years, will not be renewed, per a release from the college last Tuesday.
“Following a comprehensive evaluation of the men’s soccer program, we have decided a leadership change is necessary,” Dartmouth’s Director of Athletics and Recreation Mike Harrity said in the release. “Bo is a well-respected coach and colleague, we sincerely appreciate his effort and passion and wish him and his family well.”
The men’s squad was 3-8-3 this past season, and Oshoniyi was 34-55-20 during his tenure.
Field hockey athlete earns NFHCA honors
Olivia Galiotos, a senior midfielder for the Big Green, was named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division I senior team.
She had three goals and three assists this season.
Hockey’s strength and conditioning staffer joining United States Collegiate Selects
Chase Engdahl, Dartmouth’s assistant director of strength and conditioning, who works with the men’s and women’s hockey teams, will serve as the United States Collegiate Selects’ strength and conditioning coach.
The Selects, a team comprised of 25 players from men’s Division I hockey, will be competing in the Spengler Cup in December.
The international event, which began in 1923, is billed as “the oldest invitational ice hockey tournament in the world and one of Europe’s most prestigious sporting events,” on the NCAA’s website.
Athletics department hires senior associate athletics director for development
Jerry Hubshman Jr., who most recently served as Fordham’s Senior Director of Athletics Development and Senior Associate Director of Athletics, will be the Big Green’s new Senior Associate Athletics Director for Development.
In his new role at Dartmouth, which begins in December, Hubshman Jr. will “lead all fundraising and stewardship efforts supporting the Big Green’s 35 varsity programs, 36 club sports and intramurals,” per a release from the college.
Softball welcomes freshman class
The newest freshman class for the Dartmouth Big Green softball team includes:
- Scarlett Nagy, a catcher and infielder from Monroe, Wash.;
- Samantha Gresham, an outfielder from Anaheim, Calif.;
- Charley Maddox, a pitcher from Orange Park, Fla.;
- Sydney Herrmann, a first baseman and infielder from Greenwood, Ind.;
- Sophie Nachman, an infielder from San Clemente, Calif.;
- Hayvin Barclay, an outfielder from Cedartown, Ga.
