After two lengthy articles in the Vermont Standard and one in the Valley News, here’s a quick synopsis:
1. The Woodstock Inn probably never had an interest in restoring the houses and allowed them to deteriorate.
2. Ben Pauly said sale or renovation would be too costly (see wonderful recent renovations of two properties down the street at 39 and 41 South St.). (Also see #1 above).
3. Houses will be replaced by a “green space with a couple of trees.”
4. Green space will be removed due to:
a. Lack of available people to mow lawn
b. Loitering of elementary school children
c. Allergy problems for Inn guests
5. Green space will be home of new multi-story addition to the Inn.
