There are approximately 76,000 New Hampshire residents who get food assistance. They are our friends and neighbors. The government shutdown, if left unresolved, would have stemmed the flow of $12.6 million dollars a month from the federal government to New Hampshire to provide food to the most desperate in our state.
The Trump Administration’s priorities to stop this aid and enrich themselves continue to demonstrate a deafness to the economic hardship many of us face, administrative priorities such as:
-An unnecessary third new Air Force One costing taxpayers $400 million to $1 billion to retrofit.
-A silly military parade in Washington costing taxpayers $40 million.
-Renaming the Department of Defense to the Department of War costing taxpayers $1 billion.
-Lending Argentina $20 billion instead of helping our own citizens here.
-Needlessly deploying the National Guard in California costing taxpayers $120 million.
-Superfluously buying two new top of the line Gulfstream jets for DHS costing $172 million.
The list goes on and on. Where is the disconnect? The political elite feel they are entitled to lavishly waste our hard earned dollars to comfort their egos and their vanity, while our neighbors here and across the country desperately suffer.
