Orford, NH – Peter Brian Dooley died on October 24, 2025. He was 81.
Born on August 1, 1944, in St. Stephen, New Brunswick, Canada, to Doris Hawkins Dooley and Carroll Francis Dooley, Peter spent most of his childhood in Bermuda. As an undergraduate, Peter attended Yale University, where he left for a time to join the Marine Corps before finishing his studies. After brief stints in Florida and New York, Peter moved to San Francisco, where he earned his master’s in business administration from Stanford University, and met his wife, Linda Blankfort. He made a name for himself, first as a salesperson, and then as a business owner in the equipment leasing business.
When Peter retired, he and Linda moved to Orford, New Hampshire, where they brought their beloved German shepherds to live while they lovingly restored an 18th century home and barn. With his newfound lifestyle, Peter was able to enjoy more golf, attend many tennis tournaments, drink a good scotch, and smoke an occasional cigar. He also served as a selectman in Orford and a board member of the Hoover Institution.
Services will be private. Peter is survived by his wife, his sister Maureen Bassett-Baran, and many nieces and nephews.
