I wonder what would happen if there were a law stating all US Congressmen, Senators, and the President of the United States were mandated to donate their salaries during a federal shutdown to state food banks. Would the loss of their salaries motivate all the players to negotiate to end the shutdown? Isn’t it unfair that elected officials are getting paid for not working while many federal employees are working and not receiving their salaries? There is something seriously wrong with this picture.
