HANOVER โ€” Participants in the annual CHaD Hero race raised a record-breaking $1 million for Childrenโ€™s Hospital at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, or CHaD, and Dartmouth Health Childrenโ€™s.

More than 3,600 competitors, volunteers and sponsors took part in the race in downtown Hanover on Sunday, according to a news release from Dartmouth Health. The event included a one-mile fun run, a 5K walk and run, and a half-marathon.

Last year, the fundraiser brought in $825,000. Since 2006, the race has raised a total of $11.6 million to support families and children receiving care at Dartmouth Health.

The money โ€œhelps us bring the best care where itโ€™s needed most and supports our commitment to treat every child, regardless of their ability to pay,” Dr. Keith J. Loud, physician-in-chief of Dartmouth Health Childrenโ€™s, said in the release.
