Chelsea, VT – John K. “Jack” Showerman, 78 died on Sunday, October 12, 2025 at his home in Chelsea, VT.
He was born May 28, 1947 in Amsterdam, NY, the son of Kenneth John and Freda (Brownell) Showerman. He attended school in Walpole, NH and graduated in 1966 from Walpole High School.
He worked at Perinni Construction for many years, helping to build the Interstate while living in Hanover, NH. He married Caren Calafati. They had two children and were later divorced.
On October 2, 2004 he married Larena Pickett of Chelsea, VT. They lived in Chelsea where they built their home.
Jack enjoyed fishing, watching sports events, raising chickens, and going to auto races at Thunder Road in Barre, VT. He coached Little League Baseball and played town team basketball and softball for Thetford, Lebanon, and Hanover, NH.
He is survived by his wife, Larena Pickett of Chelsea; son, Derek Showerman of Lebanon, NH and; three daughters, Alex Showerman of Waterbury, VT, Emma Saucier and her husband, Adam of Thetford, VT and Jacklynn Showerman of Chelsea, VT; three grandchildren, Axel Saucier, Kurt Robertson and Willow Robertson; two sisters, Lynn Forsyth and her husband, John Forsyth of Greenfield, NH and Phyllis Healey of Myrtle Beach, SC; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by a sister, Jane Strong and her husband John Strong.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2025 at 5:00-7:00pm at the Boardway & Cilley Funeral Home, 300 VT Rte 110, Chelsea, VT. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, November 2, 2025 at 2:00pm at the United Church of Bethel, 108 Church Street, Bethel, VT 05032.
