Windsor, VT – Oren George Hunt passed on September 27th, 2025 in Windsor, VT, at the age of 97. He was born April 1, 1928 in Orange, NJ, to Helen Onalee “Lybarger” Hunt and Oren George Hunt Sr.
Oren was a member of the NJ State Militia until 1945 when he joined the Naval Reserve. He joined the regular Navy in 1950 and served on the ship “Denis J Buckley” until 1954 and was honorably discharged. He attended several colleges: Syracuse University, Princeton College, and Montclair State College. He held 2 bachelors degrees and a masters degree in early childhood development and spoke 4 languages.
Residing in Windsor, VT among his other accomplishments as a teacher at the Weathersfield School in VT where he retired, he worked in his younger years for Nassau in Cambridge, MA in the exploration lab.
A few of his hobbies (as he has an infinite amount) were: art, music, fishing, hunting, and carpentry. He continued taking college courses until the age of 96 for his love of learning.
He donated regularly to UNICEF, ASPCA, St. Jude, World Wildlife Fund, and the Lincoln Project.
He is predeceased by his first wife and mother of his children Nancy “Brown” Hunt and his second wife Patricia Lincoln Harford.
He leaves behind 2 daughters Kyle and Stacey Hunt, 1 son Christian Hunt, 1 son-in-law Robert E. Mound, 7 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and close friends in Windsor.
