For more than 40 years, the Lebanon CROP Hunger Walk has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars to fight hunger and food scarcity both worldwide and locally. We would love the community’s help in supporting this year’s CROP Walk, which will be held this Sunday, Oct. 12. Registration for the 2.5 mile walk begins at 12:30 at the Bandstand in Colburn Park. Online donations are already coming in!
This year’s CROP Walk will celebrate the return of First Baptist Church for the first time since the fire, and the Ravenbox Food Pantry and FBC community diners will be the recipients of the money allocated for local hunger programs.
It’s easy to donate online! Go to www.crophungerwalk.org and put “Lebanon” in the search and all of the information will pop right up, including a list of individuals and organizations to support. We encourage you in particular to support the Lebanon High School girls’ soccer team. The Raiders are off to a great start with their fundraising and would love your support. The link to their team page is easy to find.
Please join us on Sunday for a wonderful family-friendly community walk, which begins at 1 p.m. The course winds through familiar neighborhoods (passing the First Baptist Church), follows Bank Street to the intersection with the Rail Trail, and then follows the beautiful trail back to the CCBA, where there is a refreshment table. The course then heads toward the pedestrian tunnel, where you can see the beautiful new mural, then back to the First Congregational Church, our host since the beginning, for refreshments and fellowship.
Whether you donate online, or join us for the walk, or both, we would love your support to fight hunger at a time when the need has never been greater. We are grateful to be a part of this important community effort.
