Dartmouth, which finished fifth in the ECAC last season and went 18-13-2 en route to an Ivy League title, has been picked fourth in the ECAC by the league’s head coaches in a preseason poll.

Quinnipiac, Cornell and Clarkson are the teams slotted ahead of the Big Green.

In addition to the poll, the league released its preseason All-ECAC team, which included CJ Foley, a defenseman for the Big Green.

Foley, who found the back of the net 11 times last season to go along with 19 assists, was the only unanimous selection to the team.

Sailing stands out over the weekend 

Big Green sailing performed well during the first round of the Womenโ€™s Atlantic Coast Championship, hosted by St. Mary’s, over the weekend, finishing in first place.

Sudi Zhao and Olivia Drulard were key for Dartmouth, scoring just 24 points in the B Division to help propel their team to victory.

In other regattas, Dartmouth placed 11th at the Danmark Trophy, hosted by Coast Guard, and 12th at the Smith Trophy, hosted by MIT.

Womenโ€™s tennis hosts Fall Foliage Fest

Dartmouth hosted the Fall Foliage Fest this weekend. On Friday, the Big Green faced off against Brown, taking all the doubles matches and claiming four singles wins.ย 

Lauren Han and Alexandra Orlins (6-2), Brooke Hess and Elise Wong (6-2), Josephine Lombardi and Valentina Cruz (6-4) secured the doubles wins. 

Han (6-2, 6-2); Lombardi (6-4, 6-1); Orlins (6-1, 6-1); and Sam Grosjean (6-4, 3-6, 10-7) picked up the singles wins. 

Dartmouth did not fare as well on Saturday against UMass and UConn, only winning one doubles match and two singles matches. 

Orlins and Lombardi (7-6) over UMass was the sole doubles win. Orlins (6-3, 6-4) also got a singles win over UConn, while Cruz (7-6(6), 4-6, 10-5) got one over UMass. 

The Big Green rebounded on Sunday, sweeping doubles again with wins from Orlins and Grosjean (6-3); Wong and Han (7-6 (3)); Audrey Feng and Cruz (6-1), all over UConn. 

Dartmouth also picked up five singles wins on the final day of the Fall Foliage Fest from Grosjean (6-2, 6-2); Orlins (6-3, 5-7, 10-8); Feng (6-2, 6-0); Hess (6-3, 2-6 10-3); and Han a (6-1, 2-6, 10-5). 

Volleyball picks up a win and a loss 

Dartmouth started last week with a win on Thursday at home over Bryant, 3-1 (25-23, 19-25, 26-24, 25-22), but were unable to carry that momentum into Sunday when they opened Ivy League play. 

The Big Green suffered a 3-0 loss to visiting Harvard (22-25, 17-25, 11-25). Dartmouth is now 3-8. 

Field hockey’s losing streak continues

Dartmouth field hockey, looking to reverse its recent fortunes, headed to Penn on Friday but suffered a 4-2 loss. Amelie Luessmann scored in the matchup, which was assisted by Florentina Terra. Lucia Campaรฑo also scored. 

The Big Green took to the road again on Sunday to Lafayette, and once again suffered a loss, 5-0.

The loss extended Dartmouthโ€™s losing streak to five, and the team is now 2-5 on the season.ย 

Menโ€™s soccer opens Ivy League schedule with a loss

On Saturday, Dartmouth traveled to Brown to open Ivy League play, suffering a 2-1 loss. Will Lulka scored the Big Greenโ€™s lone goal, which was assisted by Douglas Arveskar.

The menโ€™s soccer team is now 1-3-3.ย 

Womenโ€™s soccer ties Penn

The Big Green traveled to Penn on Saturday and played to a 1-1 tie. Lykke Ihrfelt scored for Dartmouth on a penalty kick.

The Big Green are now 4-2-3.ย 

Rugby suffers first loss of the season 

Dartmouth rugby dropped its first game of the season to Harvard at home on Saturday, 36-33, in what was a rematch of the last three NIRA Division I Championships. 

Marley Larkin, Katelyn Walker, Arielle Fotso, and Paola Arredondo Almeida were among the members of the Big Green who scored tries in the matchup. Dartmouth is now 3-1. 

Womenโ€™s golf 2nd in Red Bandana Invitational

To start last week, Dartmouth finished second at the Red Bandana Invitational, hosted by Boston College, and the Big Green’s Sophia Li finished first overall (+1).
