While out for a walk today in Sunapee Harbor with my adopted doodle dog I came upon a group of challenged adults and their caretakers who were happy and animated about an upcoming ride on the tour boat. One young women, who was very polite, asked if she could pat the puppy. I responded yes and gave her a little dog treat to give to Mickey to gain his attention. Then another young woman asked if she too could “pat the puppy.”

They were sweet and joyful to be around and I reflected on how little it really takes to make someone happy. Kindness towards other who might look and speak different is key if a society is to live on and prosper. Kindness is the human interaction that brings comfort and stability to the human race. Kindness rather then cruelty and distain for different people regardless of their station in life is the key to getting us out of the hate filled environment we now find ourself in.

So next time someone tries to use cruelty and outrage as weapons toward a human being who is different on some or many levels, simply blow them a kiss and remind them that kindness is the ingredient that works wonders. And what goes around, comes around.
