LEBANON โ€” The current chief medical officer of Alice Peck Day Memorial Hospital will serve as the Lebanon hospital’s new CEO and president, according to a Thursday news release.

Michael Lynch joined APD in 2019 as chief medical officer. He will succeed outgoing CEO Sue Mooney, who joined the hospital in 2000 and has been its leader since 2013.

The hospital announced Mooney’s impending retirement in April. She will step away and Lynch will take over Oct. 13.

APD includes a 25-bed critical access hospital, 10-bed surgical short-stay unit, an outpatient clinic and a senior living community. The hospital, which joined the Dartmouth Health system in 2016, has more than 500 staff members and serves over 15,000 patients a year.

APD’s Board of Trustees recommended Lynch for the position following a national search. Dartmouth Health spokesperson Audra Burns declined to say how many people applied for or were interviewed for the position, but noted that there was “strong interest.”

Burns also declined to share Lynch’s salary. In 2023, Mooney earned about $507,000 in compensation, bonuses and other benefits, according to the hospital’s most recent 990 tax form.

Lynch holds an undergraduate degree from Dartmouth College and a medical degree from the University of Virginia.

Prior to joining APD, Lynch served in a leadership roles at Reliant Medical Group in Worcester, Mass., and at Concord Hospital.

In addition to serving as CMO, he has worked in emergency services as a clinician at APD and Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center. He also is a member of faculty at the Geisel School of Medicine.
