LEBANON โ€” The city has been selected to participate in the Housing Supply Accelerator Challenge, a national program with a goal of helping communities expand housing.

Lebanon was one of 16 communities throughout the country chosen to participate, according to a news release from the city. The program is sponsored by the National League of Cities and the American Planning Association, two nonprofit organizations.

“Selected communities will engage in virtual learnings, peer learning opportunities, receive tailored technical assistance, access best practices, tools and housing supply experts,” according to the release.

The city is currently in the process of updating the housing chapter of its master plan, Planning & Development Director Nathan Reichert said in a Wednesday phone interview.

The goal is to present a draft of the plan to city officials in late spring/early summer of 2026 and then ask the experts affiliated with the Housing Supply Accelerator Challenge to discuss ways to implement the plan, which could include how to construct the types of housing the city needs.
