John Duprey, of Duprey’s Towing, picks up debris from a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 91 southbound between the Wilder exit and the White River in White River Junction on Tuesday.
Police said they had received “multiple reports” around 7:30 a.m. of a pickup truck “driving erratically at high rates of speed” southbound on I-91. The truck then departed the left lane, struck a ledge and rolled over a guardrail across multiple lanes of traffic and came to rest on the right side of the highway.
The operator of the pickup, identified as Jaxyn Lovell, 20, of Westminster, Vt., was ejected and transported with “serious injuries” and to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, Vermont State Police said in a news release later Tuesday afternoon. Police said Lovell was not wearing a seat belt.
The front axle of the truck snapped off in the crash, which Duprey said he has never seen in his 11 years as a tow truck operator.
