WEST HARTFORD — Appalachian Trail thru-hiker Kirsten Gottwald, of Boston, took a swim in the White River on Tuesday.
Gottwald, who goes by the trail name “Not a Joke, or NAJ” is hiking north with a group of people she has met on the trail. Tuesday was a half-day for the group, hiking about 10 miles.
She said the river was the clearest water they had seen along the hike.
