BRADFORD โ At a special town meeting on Saturday, residents will get a chance to vote on whether the town should purchase a new fire truck.
The in-person floor vote is scheduled for 9:00 a.m. on Aug. 23 in the Bradford Academy Auditorium.
Bradford currently has two fire trucks, one that is over 30-years-old and beyond repair and one that is not โup to standardsโ and needs improvements, Selectboard chair Meroa Benjamin said.
The town received a single bid of $979,947 from Lake Region Fire Apparatus Company in Tamworth, N.H.
Benjamin expects most of the money for the truck to be financed through municipal loans over a period of five years.
โWe do have a fire department capital fund which is not big enough to fill this need at this time,โ Benjamin said.
If residents vote in favor of purchasing the truck, delivery of the truck would be 90 calendar days after the purchase and sales agreement is signed, according to the draft minutes of the Aug. 14 Selectboard meeting.
