NEWBURY, Vt. — There is a vacancy on the three-person Selectboard after one member resigned at Wednesday’s meeting.
Joe Parsons, a member of the Selectboard for the past six years and Republican state representative for the Orange-Caledonia district resigned during the Aug. 13 board meeting.
“It was just time,” Parsons said in a phone interview Friday.
The board is hoping to fill the vacancy before their next meeting on Aug. 27, Susan Culp the board’s chairwoman said in a phone interview Friday.
“That’s probably a really optimistic timeline,” Culp said. “If it takes longer we’ll role with it, but that’s the goal.”

“We wish (Parsons) well and hope someone steps up to fill his shoes,” Culp said.
