HARTFORD — A 45-year-old Hartford man whose Victory Circle residence was the scene of a police raid in June is facing federal drug charges that could lead to lifetime in prison if convicted.
Rahm Klampert, who ran a personal fitness studio in Hartford, is charged with possession and intent to distribute 3.3 pounds of cocaine, 2.4 pounds of methamphetamine and 2.6 ounces of fentanyl, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for Vermont said in a news release.
Klampert, who was arraigned in federal court in Burlington on July 31, has been ordered held without bail while the case against him remains open, the news release said.
At the time, authorities said the daytime raid in a quiet residential neighborhood yielded one of the largest drug seizures ever in Hartford.
During the June 20 raid, state and federal agents also seized 12 firearms, including multiple suspected short-barreled shotguns, military-style assault rifles, and handguns — three of which were identified as stolen — a money-counter machine and more than $100,000 in cash, according to the news release.
The police operation involved a multi-agency team comprised of Hartford police, Vermont State Police, the Vermont Drug Task Force, the Brattleboro police and Homeland Security agents.
According to his LinkedIn profile, Klampert began working as a personal trainer in Hartford in January 2023. Prior to that, he worked for 15 years as a personal trainer in central Massachusetts.
For about 10 years beginning in the mid-’90s, Klampert was a professional snowboarder who competed nationally and internationally.
