CLAREMONT โ€” A national medical testing company opened a new lab in the CVS store on Wall Street on Monday.

The lab is intendedย to serve residents of Claremont and surrounding towns, Jeremy Stein, senior director of patient services for the New Jersey-based Quest Diagnostics, said. The next closest Quest labs are in Concord and Brattleboro.

“We wanted to be in CVS because of accessibilityย and convenience,” Stein said inside the store on Monday.

The lab, which is located in the rear of the store, includesย a waiting room and private testing area.

It is adjacent to the store’s pharmacy, the city’s sole remaining pharmacy after the July closure of Rite Aid.

A referral from a provider is required and patients are asked to schedule an appointment, though walk-ins are accepted.

Quest, which lists 2,250 locations nationwide on its website, accepts about 90% of available insurance plans, Stein said.

The lab most often tests blood and urine, Stein said.ย Samples are sent to the company’s lab in Massachusetts and normally results are ready within a day, Stein said.
