Ryan Barbin, formerly of Pleasant Street, was sentenced to 12 months on conviction of endangering the welfare of a minor to be followed by a sentence of 10 to 20 years on conviction of sexual offenses against a minor, the Sullivan County Attorney Christine Hilliard and Newport Police Chief Stephen Lee announced in a joint news release.

Barbin, whose social media profile identifies him as having worked as an addiction recovery coach in the Upper Valley, is eligible to have one year of the minimum portion of his sentence suspended providing he completes sexual offender treatment and participation in other earned-time credit programs.

Barbin was convicted following a two-day jury trail in Sullivan County Superior Court in June.

Subsequent to the trial, the court dismissed a guilty verdict on an aggravated felonious sexual assault charge.
