BRADFORD — Heidi Wright, who served as Oxbow High School’s activities and athletics director for three years, has departed from her role.

In an email last week, Wright emphasized that her decision to leave was not easy.

“The Oxbow community — its students, staff, families, and supporters — has meant a great deal to me,” she wrote. “I have truly valued the opportunity to work alongside our dedicated staff, support our outstanding student-athletes, and contribute to the development of a strong athletic culture and athletic department.”

In her email, Wright explained that she is leaving the school in Bradford for a “large school outside of Vermont,” also writing that “this next step in my professional journey presents new opportunities for continued growth.”

The Times Record, a Maine newspaper, reported that Wright is headed to Mount Ararat High School in Topsham, Maine, and will replace the school’s previous athletic director, who resigned in May.

During an Oxbow Unified Union School District Board special meeting last week, Danielle Corti, the OUUSD board chair, expressed her gratitude for the work Wright had done for the school over her tenure.

“I do just want to extend a thank you to Heidi for the time and effort she put into our high school and our community,” she said. “She certainly has put in a lot of time and effort, and we certainly appreciate that.”

The Oxbow job opening has been posted, and the school has reached out to the Vermont Principal’ Association for support in the process, Heather Lawler, Orange East Supervisory Union superintendent, wrote in an email.

As Wright makes her transition to a new school, she is thankful for all the support she has received throughout her time at Oxbow.

“The time I’ve spent here has been incredibly meaningful, filled with growth, collaboratio, and a shared commitment to students, both in the classroom and through athletics. I am proud of what we have accomplished together and am deeply grateful for the relationships built along the way,” she wrote.

“I will always carry this community with me. I look forward to seeing the continued success of the athletics program in the years to come.”
