ENFIELD — Enfield town officials are reminding residents that they can visit town offices buildings to cool off over the next two days.

The Enfield Public Library/Town Offices building, located at 23 Main St., is open Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Wednesday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Public Works building, located at 74 Lockehaven Road, is open from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. both days.

“Please know that if you are struggling with the heat, even outside of these two days, these public buildings are available to you during regular hours,” town officials wrote in a Tuesday morning announcement.

Early Tuesday morning, the Gray, Maine, branch of the National Weather Service issued a “hazardous weather outlook” for much of the region including Grafton and Sullivan counties.

The heat index, a measurement which combines temperature and humidity, could reach the lower 90s Tuesday afternoon, according to the announcement. On Wednesday and Thursday, the heat index is “expected to approach the middle to upper 90s.”

The Burlington branch of the National Weather Service has also issued a “hazardous weather outlook” for parts of Vermont including Windsor and Orange counties for Wednesday and Thursday.
