WINDSOR — A community coalition in Windsor has hired the town’s first community nurse who started last week and is currently seeking clients in Windsor over 65.

Molly Matteson was hired as Windsor’s inaugural community nurse to provide free at-home support. Community nurses do things like helping clients manage chronic conditions, access social services, conducting risk assessments and helping older adults find ways to reduce the risk of hospitalization.

Matteson grew up in Brownsville and now lives in Windsor with her family. Over her 20 years in healthcare, Matteson has worked at the White River Family Practice in White River Junction and at Springfield Hospital she said in an email.

Matteson was hired by the Windsor Community Nurse Committee, a group of volunteers who started working on a community nurse program in February 2024. The program is funded entirely by grants, committee member Diane Foulds said in an email.
