CLAREMONT — Allegations of gunplay, stalking and death threats have landed two Claremont men behind bars.
Isaac Torres, 22, of Walnut Street, faces multiple felony charges after he allegedly fired shots at a pickup in the parking lot of Mascoma Bank in Claremont late Friday afternoon, Claremont police said in a news release.
Two days later, the driver of the pickup, Bobby Trujillo, was arrested and charged with misdemeanor counts of stalking Torres’ girlfriend, Kassidy Briere, who Trujillo identified to police as his ex-wife.
At back-to-back arraignments in Claremont District Court on Monday afternoon, Torres and Trujillo were each ordered held in Sullivan County House of Corrections pending their respective probable cause hearings later this month.
Judge Justin Hersh said at Trujillo’s arraignment he would include in Trujillo’s bail order that the jail take “reasonable steps” to ensure the two defendants are separated from each other while in custody at the Unity facility.
The encounter between the men began when Trujillo had observed Briere “fighting with Torres near Daddy’s Pizza” on Pleasant Street Friday afternoon, according to a police affidavit in support of the charges.
Trujillo steered his pickup into the nearby parking lot of Mascoma Bank on Glidden Street when Torres allegedly began firing a gun in Trujillo’s direction, with the gunshots hitting his vehicle before Torres drove away.
Police responded to the scene, and after interviewing Trujillo, they located and arrested Torres a short time later without incident at the apartment he shares with Briere on Walnut Street, the affidavit said.
Trujillo told police that on the previous day, Torres left him a threatening voicemail. In the voicemail, which Trujillo identified to police as coming from Torres, the caller made threats to kill Trujillo if he attempted to call Briere.
“Keep calling my girlfriend, keep seeing what happens. Next time you pull up to my house, you’re a dead body. I’m a pull out that pistol and I’m a take you’re your f—— life, I guarantee it,” the affidavit quotes the voicemail as saying.
A few days later Briere contacted Claremont police to report that Trujillo, her estranged husband, had been repeatedly calling her, pulling into her driveway and driving past her residence while calling.
In one call which Briere recorded, Trujillo is heard telling Briere, “I’m going to f—— kill you,” according to the affidavit.
Torres and Briere both have prior run-ins with the law.
Last year Newport, N.H., police arrested and charged Torres, then 21, with second-degree assault, riot and contributing to the delinquency of a minor in connection with an incident police reported involved the discharge of a gun.
At his arraignment on Monday, a state prosecutor noted that Torres had pleaded guilty to riot in December.
Briere in 2020 pleaded guilty to a single count of falsifying physical evidence for helping her boyfriend at the time hide evidence after police said he attempted to stab a man over a gambling debt.
Briere was also present in an apartment in Claremont in 2023 when two men barged in through the door, hit her with a pistol and then shot at two men inside, gravely injuring one of them.
