NORWICH — Incumbent Mary Layton defeated two challengers for a three-year seat on the Selectboard.

Layton received 549 votes. Challengers Douglas Wilberding received 407 votes and Chuck Tufankjian received 201 votes. 

Neil Odell won uncontested three-year terms on the Norwich and Dresden school boards. Garrett Palm won an uncontested two-year term on the Norwich School Board.

All spending articles including the proposed $6.2 million operating budget and proposed $7.95 million school operating budget passed.

Voters also approved creating a Culverts Fund to replace culverts in town and added $150,000 to the new fund. Voters agreed to use surplus funds for the Fire Apparatus Fund, $300,000; and Highway Garage Fund, $200,000. Voters put $500,000 of surplus funds toward Tracy Hall renovations. The Norwich Public Library received $365,000 for operations.

There were 1,259 residents who voted Tuesday; Norwich’s voter checklist includes 3,133 people.
